My Home Away From Home

Cheerleading has been a constant in my life for over 10 years. What started as a sport became a commitment, a leadership role, and a community that built who I am. Through long practices, competitions, and game days, cheer became my home away from home. For most of high school, I participated on two cheer teams: the Varsity Riverside High School Cheer Team and a private club team for travel cheer, where I traveled all over the country to different cheer events. I served as captain for two years and received a number of awards. I have featured this information in my “leadership and responsibility” section, click here for more information.

Commitment & Growth

Spending a decade in cheer taught me discipline, consistency, and resilience. Showing up prepared, pushing through setbacks, and balancing cheer with academics required focus and accountability. Progress came from repetition, trust, and staying committed even when it was difficult.

Leadership & Teamwork

As a team captain, I learned that leadership is about reliability and support. Cheer depends on trust. Every routine requires clear communication and confidence in your teammates. The friendships I built through cheer are some of the strongest in my life, shaped by shared effort, pressure, and growth.

Lasting Impact

Cheerleading taught me how to lead, collaborate, and stay grounded in high-pressure situations. Those lessons continue to guide how I approach challenges beyond the mat.
